In preparation for the submission of my thesis, I presented a small seminar on my research findings to colleagues and friends at the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education last week. Below is the 80 word summary of what I've been doing for the last 3 years and a copy of my slides is available here:
Title: Academic staff and international engagement: motivations and drivers in Australian higher education
Abstract: By many measures, the internationalisation of Australian higher education is a great success story. Yet questions remain as to whether internationalisation has changed the work of academic staff. Adopting a case study approach, this study has investigated the international dimensions of academic work in Australia and the various factors which influence that work. The study conceptualises a typology of international engagement, with findings relating to national context for internationalisation and a complex interplay between personal, disciplinary, institutional and external influences.

Call for chapter proposals - "The Future Agenda for Internationalization in Higher Education"
Delighted to confirm that I will be editing a new book in the Routledge Internationalization in Higher Education Series with Laura Rumbley from Boston
College's Center for International Higher Education.
Entitled "The Future Agenda for Internationalization in Higher Education: Next Generation Insights into Research, Policy, and Practice", this book intends to give primacy to next generation perspectives from emerging researchers and analysts, and will focus on new contexts for internationalization in higher education, new topics of enquiry, and new or innovative modes or methodologies of research.
The call for chapter proposals is now open and can be found at www.nextgenizn.org. This website also contains background information about the rationales for the book and its structure, as well as a welcome video from the editors and our bios.
