PhD study - interviews completed (at last!)

Just under 6 months and 37 interviews later... I'm delighted to advise that I've now finished collecting data for my PhD research into the international dimensions of the work of Australian academics (aka faculty staff).

Dr Douglas Proctor has over twenty years’ experience in international education across the higher education, vocational and ELICOS sectors, both as an academic and senior manager.

Douglas returned to Australia from Ireland in July 2021 to take up the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne. Previously he was Director, UCD Global at University College Dublin, Ireland’s Global University.

Douglas holds a PhD in international higher education at the University of Melbourne. In 2018, he co-edited a Routledge book with Dr Laura Rumbley entitled ‘The Future Agenda for Internationalization in Higher Education’, which gave primacy to next generation perspectives as well as focusing on dimensions of internationalisation that are known to be under-researched.

Based on his experience and contributions to the sector, Douglas was recognised as a Senior Fellow of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) in September 2019.
